As Rick Hendrick BMW Charleston has mentioned before in our BMW blog, the BMW M5M police mobile is simply a concept but will be followed with a slew of real-life BMW law enforcement vehicles soon. These autos are set to debut at the General Police Equipment Exhibition & Conference in Leipzig quite soon and we at 1518 Savannah Hwy Charleston, SC will scoop up all the details.
For those who'd like to get a close-up look at a BMW police vehicle without committing a crime and serving time, Rick Hendrick BMW Charleston knows of a solution. Head to Munich.
At the BMW Welt Museum at the company's headquarters in Munich, Germany, rests a special BMW M5 all decked out in law enforcement garb. As with most other BMW police car concepts, the crime-fighting M5 is said to host the following:
- iDrive-controlled warning lights
- LED identification lights
- Blacked-out grille
- Wailing sirens straight from the factory
- Fitted in the traditional "Polizei" livery.
For those unfamiliar with the BMW M5, the high-performance auto boasts a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 with 560 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque as output. This powertrain provides for a top speed of nearly 200 mph as well as a sprint time of zero-to-60 mph in about 4.4 seconds. Yep, Germany highway speeders really don't stand a chance of out-driving this powerful police machine. Or at least they won't if the M5 model makes it to production...
