With all the advanced technology that is being included in the new BMW lineup, it is hard to pick just one feature that stands out the most. However, here at Rick Hendrick BMW Charleston we picked our favorite to be the LTE WiFi, set to be included in future BMW models.
The LTE WiFi accessory can be added to BMW models that come equipped with a phone cradle dock within its console. This allows for all passengers to connect personal electronics like phones and tablets to the WiFi hotspot and surf the internet at LTE speeds.
If that isn't impressive enough, the LTE adapter ensures security by requiring an eight-digit connection code. This will prevent anyone from tapping into the vehicle's WiFi when traveling close by on the road. For the convenience of on board passengers, Near Field Communications (NFC) allows them to activate the available WiFi connection by simply holding an electronic device next to the supported adaptor.
The adaptor also comes complete with a battery which allows passengers to utilize the WiFi from outside the car within a 10 yard range. It will last for about an hour before needing to be charged in a USB port within the vehicle.
When can we expect to see this technology make its way to the greater Charleston area? THe LTE WiFi is currently only available in Europe, but we hope to see it appear in models within the U.S. sometime within the next year.
