For months now, BMW fans both here in Charleston, SC and nationally have been clamoring for more information about when the upcoming 2 Series will be added to the BMW new model lineup, and now we can all finally collectively exhale as the Bavarian automaker has now released the full productions specifications for the upcoming series, with the aim of having the models on showroom floors sometime in 2014. Let's have a look.
There are two new 2 Series Coupes that BMW released information on, and they are the 228i and the M-performance model M235i.
Within the 228i, drivers will find a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that is capable of 240 horsepower with an eight speed automatic or six speed manual transmission. BMW estimates place the miles per gallon rating at around 23 in the city and 35 on the highway, but the model has yet to be inspected officially by the EPA as of this writing.
The BMW M235i carries on the tradition of the BMW M Series, and in that vein brings everything up a notch in terms of performance with a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine that produces 322 horsepower and 332 pound feet of torque. Other upgraded parts on this model include adaptive suspension and sport-tuned breaking.
While these two models are not quite available anywhere yet, the current new model lineup is excellent as always, as well. Visit us soon at Rick Hendrick BMW Charleston, proudly serving all of Charleston, SC.
