The BMW i5 is Currently in the Works

In today's automotive world, competition is rising within the hybrid and all-electric vehicle segments. As the push to become more eco-friendly increases, BMW has decided to step up its game. Currently the BMW i3 all-electric model is in high demand now that it's available at select dealerships worldwide. Now the automaker has a few more additions in the works.

The BMW i8 plug-in hybrid is slated to go on sale early next year, leaving auto enthusiasts quite excited to see another energy efficient option joining the new BMW lineup. There is also one more model currently taking form that many of you may not be as familiar with.

The model we are referring to is the new BMW i5. Currently the automaker is busy deciding whether or not it will be a range-extended electric, plug-in hybrid, or all-electric vehicle. This is a big decision to make, which is why BMW is doing extensive research and studies to determine the best possible option.

As of now, BMW has indicated the i5 model will be differentiated from the i3 by being larger in size. Its ultimate goal is to target an audience looking to enjoy a more spacious model that still remains eco-friendly. Perhaps we can even expect to see a crossover model like the BMW X5 in the works. Only time will tell!
