Evolution Helps 2018 BMW X3 Shed Weight, Gain More Power

In case you didn’t know, the majority of BMW’s Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) are built right here in South Carolina! The same will be true for the all-new 2018 X3, which will go on sale in November. An evolution over the outgoing model that’s been on sale since 2010, this compact SAV offers more power, an M performance model, and upgraded tech.

You’d have a hard time distinguishing the new X3 from the outgoing model, and that’s not a bad thing. But while many people may miss the sharper character lines, LED lighting in the front and back, and larger air intakes, quite a bit of weight loss and aerodynamic work has gone into it to make it more efficient. U.S.-spec models will come in xDrive30i and M40i flavors, powered by a turbocharged 248-hp four-cylinder and 355-hp six-cylinder respectively. The inside continues the evolutionary trend with a larger panoramic moon roof, iDrive 6.0, and additional phone connectivity.

But as is often the case with a new BMW like the X3, there’ll be more to the story. Stay tuned to our blog to learn more about pricing and performance, or contact our Charleston, SC showroom to learn more.
